The Confirmation Preparation Program is a broad-based comprehensive ministry that integrates faith formation and religious instruction with the lived experiences of young people.  Our focus is on equipping teens to:

  • explore what being a Christian, a Catholic, and a person of faith means;

  • develop  their own personally-held faith and own it;

  • grow in response to the Gospel challenge to be a person of faith, a disciple of Jesus, and a member of the Church.

Students who are minimally entering the 9th grade are eligible to begin their preparation for Confirmation.  Information about the program can be found in the   pdf Registration Letter (498 KB) .  Please complete the online registration or the   pdf HSYM/Confirmation Preparation Registration form (417 KB) and return it to the Youth Ministry Office.  High School Confirmation Preparation will meet on Sunday evenings from 6:45-8:30 pm at the Church.  Please see the   pdf HSYM/Confirmation Preparation Calendar (468 KB)  for meeting dates.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred annually in the spring to those who are catechetically ready and minimally in the 10th grade.  Two consecutive years of participation in the Confirmation Preparation Program is required for reception of the sacrament.  A candidate for Confirmation must profess the faith, be in the state of grace, have the intention of receiving the sacrament, and be prepared to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ, both within the Church community and in the world.

"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-the Spirit of truth...The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."   JN 14:15-17; 26.

Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the fullness of the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply as children of God; incorporate us more firmly into Christ; strengthen our bond with the Church and associate us more closely with its mission; and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.
