Seton Weekly Update 9/23/22

Posted on September 23, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

It’s another busy weekend at SEAS!  One of the challenges facing parishes as they emerge from “pandemic” mode is the rebuilding of parish ministries.  We are not exempt from this challenge.  This weekend we extend an invitation to our young parishioners to become more involved in the life of the parish as ALTAR SERVERS (grade 5 and older) and members of the CHILDREN’S CHOIR.  More information is available this week in the narthex at the Hospitality Centre.  Deacon Jack McCabe plans to have training sessions for new servers in the coming weeks.

Last Sunday’s parish picnic was a great success! The weather was great and approximately 175 were in attendance.   I’m reluctant to list the names of all those who made the day possible for fear of forgetting a name.  All who made the day possible have my deepest thanks.   It was wonderful to see so many young families present.

Congratulations to Riley Rose Murray, the daughter of Robert & Katherine Murray and James Robert Cannon the son of William and Julianne Cannon who will be reborn in water and spirit this Sunday through the sacrament of baptism.  May the Lord bless them and their families with a long life and an abundance of happiness and peace.

In my short time here, I have come to realize the significant number of active and retired military couples who are part of the parish.  On November 5th, after the Saturday evening Mass, I would like to host a social hour to honor them for their service.   Details have yet to be worked out but if you have any ideas or would like to help in this new venture, give me a call.

Attention all creatures of our God and King!  In honor of St. Francis of Assisi there will be a blessing of animals and pets on Saturday (Oct. 1) at 11 am.

Over the next several Thursday evenings @ 7PM, I will be holding Inquiry Sessions for anyone interested in exploring the Catholic faith.  The purpose of these sessions is to listen to and respond to any questions a person might have in considering the Catholic faith.  There is no obligation or commitment for those who attend.  If interested, please contact the parish office.

How time flies!  I will be scarce this weekend – I’m attending my 50 year reunion from Bishop Walsh High School in Cumberland.  I’m anxious to see how well I have weathered life compared to my classmates!

Have a good week!
