Seton Weekly Update 9/1/22

Posted on September 04, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

Where did the summer go?   It’s Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer and the beginning of a new school year.  We welcome in a special way this weekend our school children, who hopefully will bring their backpacks to Mass where we will ask God’s blessing on both the backpacks and those who carry or drag them!   Let us all pray for a successful and safe school year for our children and their teachers.

I’m glad to be back after my own summer break.  I did some travel (cruise to Iceland and Ireland with my personal photographer - Fr. Paul) and spent time with good friends and family in Virginia and Western Maryland.  Now it is time to get down to work in earnest as our parish programs and ministries pick up activity.

I am grateful for the members of the parish staff who took time to write this weekly message in my absence.  I thought it a good opportunity for you to hear from them about their plans and hopes for this new work year.  I am excited by what they wrote and look forward to being part of their efforts in the pastoral and spiritual care of parishioners.

Finally, next week we will welcome to our parish a learning team from St. Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore. They will be with us over this academic year as part of their pastoral formation for the priesthood.  Stay tuned for more information.

Have a Good Week!
