Seton Weekly Update 7/14/22

Posted on July 14, 2022

Dear Friends,

As I continue my transition into the parish’s life, I want to say a word of gratitude this week to the parish staff who have been very helpful and very patient with me as I learn the parish and settle in.  The parish is blest to have such an able and dedicated staff.

I see signs of vitality all around me.   Last weekend 3 babies were baptized; there was a big crowd for “Donut Sunday” after the 9:30 Mass and 25 young adults participated in the “grill and chill” after Sunday evening’s Mass.  I want to say a word of thanks to the young families who bring their children to Mass.  You are a source of hope for many of us.  THANK YOU for your witness to the faith!

Did you know 39 infants were baptized at our parish in calendar year 2022?

The HELP WANTED sign is out for a Coordinator of Digital Evangelization and Communication (i.e. Media Coordinator). This position is responsible for the parish website and assuring the good news of our parish is posted on various social media platforms.   Duties also include publishing the Sunday bulletin and the webcasting of Masses.

THANKS & GOOD LUCK to Mitzy Deras as she leaves her work as our parish’s media coordinator for a new job at The Catholic Review.  In her new ministry, Mitzi will assist parishes across the Archdiocese in their digital efforts at evangelization.  Thanks, Mitzi for all your good works and efforts on behalf of our parish.

Lots of parishes – including our own – face the challenge of rebuilding some of their ministries in the post-pandemic world.  WE NEED ALTAR SERVERS!!!!  If you are 5th grade or older, please call the parish office to learn more….PLEASE!

Finally, next Sunday is World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly when we honor the important and unique relationship between grandparents and grandchildren.  Pope Francis credits his maternal grandmother with passing onto him the Catholic faith.  July 26th is the feast day of Jesus’ grandparents Sts. Joachim and Anne.

Have a Good Week!

Msgr. Woy
