Seton Weekly Update 4/29/22

Posted on April 29, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

As we continue the Easter season, the scriptures this weekend highlight the zeal and perseverance of the Apostles. I find great encouragement in their shift from disciple (learner) to apostle (one who is sent). Their time as followers of Jesus was often marked by getting things wrong, making mistakes, and giving up on Jesus. The Acts of the Apostles, on the other hand, is filled with tales of their strength and power. Even prison bars and threats of persecution could not keep them from proclaiming the name of Jesus. We can give thanks that their persistence paid off... the name of Jesus continues to be proclaimed even in the face of persecution today. Sadly we see too many examples of suffering for the sake of the name of Jesus, but we are also strengthened by the courage of those who face such suffering with faith in our Savior.

This month will certainly be a busy and exciting time for many of us, especially as many of our young people will be celebrating college and high school graduations in the coming weeks. There is a lot to celebrate and many people to pray for!

Please consider volunteering for Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW). Resources and training are provided. Please contact for more information or to volunteer. I would also like to bring back Donut Sundays. When we had these, it was a great way to foster community and meet parishioners. Please read this weekend’s bulletin for more information!

Check out this video created by our talented Social Media Coordinator Mitzy Deras. She beautifully captured the joy of Easter weekend at our parish!

As part of our parish tradition of honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary we will have the annual May Procession on Sunday, May 15th.  We will process to the Mary statue in the grotto behind the church after the 11:00 a.m. Mass.  I invite everyone to join me for this special devotion to the Mother of our Lord.  Those families who are registered in the Root program are especially encouraged to participate as part of their faith formation journey. Let us recall Mary’s faith in God and her great joy at the Resurrection of her Son during this Easter Season.

In Christ,
Fr. Paul

P.S. Please join me in wishing Deacon Fred Seibold a Happy 83rd Birthday today!
