Parish Update - 8/14/2020

Posted on August 14, 2020

Good afternoon Friends,

With Father Paul on vacation for the next couple of weeks our Flocknotes will be more business related and less scripture based.  Please say some special prayers That Father has a peaceful and rest filled vacation.

News From Faith Formation:

Following the lead of the county, we have moved all our faith formation and sacramental preparation programs to an at-home format…at least for now.  If we get the green light from the state, county and archdiocese we can quickly pivot to offering gathered sessions while continuing with the at-home format for families that prefer it.

K-8 Faith Formation will be a whole-family lectionary-based program; meaning that every week’s focus will be the readings at Mass for the upcoming Sunday and the materials will be presented in age-appropriate ways…and that includes parents, too!  We are offering an optional small group experience just for parents where they can explore the Sunday Scriptures and build community with other adults.  John Russell, our Director of Evangelization, has created a video presentation detailing the K-8 Faith Formation program.  Watch it here.  You can enroll your children, and optionally you and/or your spouse by clicking here.  The program begins on September 20th.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Preparation have been at-home programs supplemented by three parent and child in-person gatherings for each Sacrament.  The at-home portion will remain unchanged while the in-person gatherings will be replaced by on-demand videos for both parents and children.  We expect to have a video explaining this program up on our YouTube channel next week with registration opening as well.  First Reconciliation prep. will begin in October with First Eucharist prep. beginning in January.

High School Youth Ministry and Confirmation Preparation will meet live and virtually 12 times for about an hour each time.  We are working with some of the most engaging and dynamic youth evangelists to join us live for our Zoom sessions.  Each of these speakers will present their topic in a virtual large group with live Q&A to follow.  Then we will further unpack the topics as small groups for the next two weeks, with the small groups meeting via Zoom as well.  We are still working through the final details, so look for more information in the coming weeks.  High School Youth Ministry and Confirmation Prep. will meet on Sunday evenings at 7:00p beginning October 4th.

Other Seton News:

We’d like to take a moment to Thank Grace Gretz and her family for cleaning up and beautifying our Blessed Mother’s Grotto.  We are seeing an increase in people coming to pray at Mary’s statue since the pandemic began.  Grace felt as though the Blessed Mother could use a little love so she took it upon herself to clean up the area, add some new plants and mulch and really make it look nice.  We think she has done a wonderful job.  Thank you Grace!!

Here is this Sunday’s Worship Aid

A reminder....

As usual, we will continue to live-stream Mass on the parish Facebook (link) and uploaded on YouTube (link), and our parish website, https://www.seaseton.org/Resources/Media. If you do not have Facebook but wish to watch our livestream, click here for instructions.

Have a good week!
