Parish Update - 7/2/2020

Dear Friends,

Finding rest is often a challenge, especially in today’s world of instant communication at any time and place. Even when we try to get away during this pandemic, we are still connected, which means there are expectations still hanging over our heads (or at least we perceive it that way) and so we never really manage to find that place where we can truly rest. Even Jesus had difficulty getting away, as crowds followed him and always wanted to hear him speak and to witness his mighty deeds. He understands the pressure we place on one another and ourselves, and his invitation, “Come to me, all who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest” sounds quite inviting. Of course there is more here than a tropical beach or a hammock in the shade.

He is inviting us to recognize and accept a whole different way of life oriented toward heaven. For now, however, take Jesus’ words to heart and seek opportunities to REST. Rest includes quiet time so that we can listen and talk to the Lord in prayer more effectively. Let these summer days be an opportunity to reconnect with the Lord (especially as you might find time to DISconnect from some other demands and obligations!)

I’m excited to welcome you back to Seton for our re-opening for Public Mass this weekend! Although the time to sign-up for Mass ends on Wednesdays at 10pm you can sign up for Mass on July 11&12, after the 9:30am Mass this Sunday by way of the parish Website or the parish FaceBook page. You will receive a confirmation email from Seton with your seat assignment(s) on the Friday before Mass, bring that email (paper or on your smartphone) to the Main Entrance for the Usher to check you in and follow the directions of the Volunteers who will assist you in finding your seat. Watch this informative video for more information and arrive to 20 minutes before the start of Mass!

Remember, if you're not ready to come back to Mass or when you go on vacation, our parish bills need to be paid. If you are away, please continue to send in your offertory envelopes. Or, you can sign up to give online through GiveCentral.  GiveCentral allows you to choose: you can make a one time gift or set it up to make recurring gifts through your bank or credit card. The link is on our parish website here. Thank you for your continued generosity! Also, if you're not feeling well, please stay home until you are healthy to attend Mass. Links for viewing Sunday Mass and Daily Mass will continue to be posted at the end of each Flocknote.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, I am aware that our observances this year will be quite different, and we are all the more aware of our need to ask God’s help: “America, God shed his grace on thee” is our fervent prayer.

One more thing…We have some very exciting news!  Seton will be hosting the Crofton Farmer’s Market in our parking lot starting this Wednesday, July 8th through October.  The market will operate from 3pm-7pm in the lower parking levels. We are thrilled to be able help this wonderful community event!

Here is this Sunday’s Worship Aid

A reminder....

As usual, we will continue to live-stream Mass on the parish Facebook (link), and uploaded on YouTube (link), and our parish website, If you do not have Facebook but wish to watch our livestream, click here for instructions

God’s peace to all of you!
