Dear Friends,

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, stepfathers and godfathers!  We are delighted that you have joined us this weekend for Mass.  A blessing will be offered at all Masses for fathers.

Also, married couples celebrating anniversaries during the month of June will be invited to renew their marriage vows after Mass.  Simply meet the priest or deacon in front of the altar.  The opportunity to renew vows will be offered every 3rd weekend of the month.

With school over and summer vacations soon to begin, the church settles into “Ordinary Time.”  This year during ordinary time, Matthew’s gospel will be the focus of the Sunday readings.  Green Mass vestments are worn marking this as a time for growth and hope rooted in the teachings and promise of the gospel.  

Don’t forget Brendan’s retirement reception next Sunday (25th) after the 11AM Mass.  Brendan has served our parish as director of music for 21+ years.   He has not only made his mark on our parish, but has also touched our hearts with his love for music and the Lord.   Do plan to stop by and wish Brendan well.  

Next weekend, I hope to announce not only Brendan’s successor but also an additional staff member for our evangelical and faith formation program.  Stay tuned for exciting details. 

Don’t forget to register for Vacation Bible School (VBS) which will be held July 10-14 from 9am to 12noon.  

I will be on retreat this week with over 50 archdiocesan priests at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore.  Please keep us in your prayers as we make our annual retreat.  I’ll certainly be thinking of you.
