Dear friends,
We conclude the “Great 50 Days” of the Easter Season this weekend with the celebration of Pentecost. We welcome into our Catholic faith community through the waters of baptism Colby Kolenda child of Zachary and Kim Kolenda. Kindly keep this young family in our prayers this Pentecost weekend.
It is hard to believe that we have reached the Memorial Day weekend and the official start of the summer season. On Memorial Day we honor men and woman of the armed services who paid the supreme price to safeguard our American way of life. Let us honor them with prayers this weekend. Also, let say a prayer of gratitude for all who veterans and active duty military personnel for their service to our country. THANK YOU!
The Feast of Corpus Christi is fast approaching (June 11th). This year’s feast begins a year of National Eucharistic Revival in the United States which will conclude with a National Eucharistic Congress next year on Corpus Christi in Indianapolis. Throughout this year, our parish will focus on the many presence of Jesus in the celebration of Mass. We would like to hold a period of adoration on Corpus Christi from the conclusion of the 11:00 AM Mass until the beginning of 5:30 Mass. This period of Eucharistic adoration will only be possible if enough people sign up to be present throughout the afternoon. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex.
There are lots of opportunities over the summer in our family faith formation programs. Vacation Bible School (July 10-14) for younger children and Mid-Summer Madness for middle schoolers. See the bulletin or webpage for more information and registration. The weekend of June 10-11 there will be FAMILY FAITH FORMATION FAIR after each Mass in the hall. The fair will be an opportunity for families to review opportunities and catechetical materials for the upcoming school year. DONUTS after the 9:30 MASS.
Slowly parishes are returning to offering Holy Communion under both species (bread & wine). Over the summer we will return to offering the shared cup during weekday Masses. As it has been from the beginning, the common cup will be available as an option or those who want to receive the Precious Blood. The HELP WANTED sign is still out for Eucharistic Ministers. To learn more please contact Laryessa Worthington in the parish office.
Have a Good Week! ~Msgr. Woy
