Seton Weekly Update 4/28/23

Posted on April 28, 2023 in: General News

Dear friends,

On this “Good Shepherd Sunday we continue with celebrations of First Holy Communion at the 9:30 & 11:00 AM Masses.  What a blessing to witness these young families celebrate this milestone in their child’s faith life.

There will be a “Welcome Reception” for new parishioners after the 9:30 Mass.  If you are new to the parish over the past year, consider yourself invited.

Vacation Bible School is back!  VBS returns this summer after the pandemic hiatus.  Adult volunteers are still needed for the week of July 10-14, 9:00-12noon.  If you can help, contact Sarah Jarzembowski.  Parents who volunteer for a full week will receive one complimentary child registration.

Thanks for your continued support of the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. To date 183 donors have contributed $95,385 towards our parish goal of $100,750.   This appeal helps provide resources needed for the Archdiocese to respond to the thousands of individuals who seek assistance and pastoral care from the church. The parish receives a 10% rebate on all redeemed pledges up to goal.  Please refer to the Archdiocesan webpage to make a gift www.archbalt.org.

SAVE THE DATE!!!  June 25th will be the final Sunday for our beloved music director, Brendan Walls.  A “Meet & Greet” event is being planned for Sunday, June 25th. Stay tuned for details….

It is hard to believe we turn the calendar page to “May” this week. In our Catholic faith tradition, May is a month when we honor our Blessed Mother.  I am hoping to have a nice Marian Shrine in the Church to the right of the sanctuary with a statue of Our Lady for veneration during the month.   I invite you to bring flowers from your homes and gardens and place them at the shrine.  This is a work in progress so please be patient.

HELP WANTED!!! The parish continues to re-build its liturgical ministries after the pandemic. We need sacristans, Eucharistic Ministers, altar servers and ushers!

  • Sacristans help prepare the church on Thursday and Friday for weekend Masses.
  • Eucharistic Ministers assist with the distribution of Holy Communion.
  • Ushers help maintain the good order of the church during Mass and offer a warm welcome to Mass goers.
  • Altar Servers assist the priest at the altar during Mass.  This ministry is open to young and old, male and female alike.

Volunteers for these ministries control their own schedule and availability.  If interested, please contact Laryessa in the parish office who will refer you to the coordinator for each ministry.

Msgr. Richard Woy, Pastor
