Seton Weekly Update 3/17/2023

Posted on March 17, 2023 in: General News

Dear friends,

This is Laetare Sunday, marking the half-way point in our Lenten Journey.  Again, this Sunday, we continue our recruitment for new ushers.  The Usher ministry is one of hospitality and keeping good order in the worship space. This ministry is open to young and the not so young, men and women including married couples.  You will find an usher available in the narthex to answer any questions you may have concerning this ministry.  DONUTS after the 9:30 Mass!

Keep in your prayers our catechumens (those preparing for baptism) and candidates for full communion with the church at the Easter Vigil who will spend next Saturday on retreat in preparation for the Easter Vigil.

Next Sunday we will offer a blessing of expectant mothers after all Masses in honor of the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25th).  The Annunciation celebrates Jesus taking flesh in the womb of our Blessed Mother when the Angel Gabriel was sent by God to ask her to become the mother of Jesus. If you know a mother to be, invite her to join you for Mass and the blessing next weekend.

A schedule of Holy Week and Easter Masses and services is being mailed to each registered household this week.   Please invite someone you know who has not been attending Mass or who is looking for a church home to join you in celebrating the holiest days of our church year.

As Easter approaches, I encourage you to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance (confession).  Confessions are heard every Wednesday after the 5:00 PM Mass and on Saturdays at 3:30 PM.

Low gluten hosts are available for those who are gluten intolerant.  Those who need one of these specially prepared hosts are asked to present themselves last in the communion line to either the deacon or priest-celebrant.   Consecrated low gluten hosts are kept in the tabernacle and should always be available.

Finally, an update on the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries – so far 146 SETON parishioners have pledged $91,190 towards the parish goal of $100,750!  THANK YOU for your generous support of the pastoral ministry of the Archdiocese.  People approach the church daily for assistance.  Your contribution helps provide the resources needed to respond to their needs. You can make your gift at www.archbalt.org.

Have a wonderful week!

Weekly Updates:

  • Easter Outreach
Donations of any wrapped candy, t-shirts (any size/color), socks (any size - we are in need of white socks still), baseball hats (with no metal clips), packages of cookies, and sugar-free candy are needed for Easter Outreach.

  • BECOME AN USHER – SIGN UP AFTER MASS
Ushers are the first contact people have when entering our church, providing an atmosphere of warm friendliness and hospitality.  Ushers also open and close the church, collect and see to the safety of the contributions, ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the church, and make sure there is no stranger among us.  They can be men or women of any age who would like to help and who have a friendly smile.
