Dear Friends,
This is announcement weekend for the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. Normally, I would speak at all Masses this weekend asking for your support of the Appeal. However, I am away on winter break. As Catholics of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, we are part of a community of 500,000 Catholics who live in a geography which spans from the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay to the far reaches of Western Maryland. This annual appeal provides the necessary resources that permits the Church to care for many people some of who are the neediest of our brothers and sisters. Your support of the appeal helps make possible the good works of Catholic Charities and the St. Vincent DePaul Society; tuition assistance for poor children to attend a Catholic school; priest-chaplains at major hospitals; campus ministers at colleges and universities; respect life ministry; the training of future priests to name just a few. The Annual Appeal supports the pastoral and spiritual work of many ministries that have no other means of support other than our generosity. Please consider making a gift to the Appeal.
Some dates to keep in mind:
- February 21 (Tuesday) – Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper (5:00-6:30 PM )
- February 22 (Ash Wednesday) - Masses @ 9AM, 5PM & 7PM)
- March 5-7 (Parish Lenten Mission) – with Fr. Josh Laws
- March 18 (Saturday) – St. Paddy’s Day Party
Summer is fast approaching and I want to give families a “heads up” on opportunities for our young parishioners:
- Vacation Bible School Returns – week of July 10th
- Baltimore Work Camp (High School Students) – week of June 25-30.
The Baltimore Work Camp will start on June 25 (Sunday) and end June 30 (Friday). Home base for the work camp will be Mount St. Mary’s University (Emmitsburg) where teen and adult WorkCampers will eat, sleep and participate in evening programs. The work sites will be located in the surrounding communities. Workcampers will have the opportunity to serve alongside teens from other parishes and will learn how to work as a team. It’s a great way to kick off the summer! Contact youth minister Griffin Connors (griffin.conners@seaset...) for more details.
We celebrate the circle of life this week at SETON. Please keep in your prayers the repose of the soul of Aidan Surlis, Sr. whose funeral Mass will be celebrated this Thursday at 11AM. Aidan and his family are long-time and active members of the parish. We welcome into our community through the waters of Baptism Olachi Elisha Ejedoghaobi during Saturday’s 4:30 Mass and Kairaluchukwu Lucy Henry - Mbah & Lily Anne Szczepaniak on Sunday at 12:15. Also, congratulations to Joe Stancomb and Melanie White who were married on Friday (10) afternoon. Joe is also preparing to join the church at this year’s Easter Vigil. Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Stancomb. We wish you a long life of happiness and good health.
Have a Good Week!
Msgr. Woy
