Seton Weekly Update 12/16/22

Posted on December 16, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

We have reached the fourth and final Sunday of Advent. This Sunday is the “Blessing of the Bambinelli” (Baby Jesus).  This is a Roman tradition. Every Year, The Holy Father invites children to bring the Baby Jesus from their family Nativity scene to Mass for a blessing.   This blessing will be offered at all Masses.  At the 9:30 AM Mass, we welcome the choir from our mother church Our Lady of the Fields.   Last Sunday, our choir joined them for Mass at OLF.  This exchange of choirs is one of the time-honored traditions of the parish.

The Chesapeake Chorale will present “Lo, How a Rose” on December 17th (Saturday), 7:30PM in the church.  The concert features an array of Christmas and seasonal favorites. Tickets are $18 (adults), $12 (seniors 60+ and military), $5 (students). Masks are optional, but strongly encouraged. Patrons are invited to bring canned goods for the Crofton Christian Caring Council. More information and advance ticket sales are available at www.chesapeakechorale.org, or call (443) 292-2176.

For young parishioners considering college, Grace Gretz, a parishioner and senior at The Catholic University in Washington will be available in the narthex after the 5:30 PM Mass with information about CUA.

Know of someone looking for a church-home?  Ever thought about being Catholic? There will be an inquiry session with Msgr. Woy on Wednesday, January 11th @ 7PM for any one curious about the Catholic faith.  For further info contact Sarah at (sarah.jarzembowski@seaseton.org).

Don’t forget the time of Christmas Eve/Day Masses:

               December 24th    (Christmas Eve):  4:00 PM (church & hall), 6:00 PM &  9:30 PM
                             Christmas Pageant 3:15 PM (church)
December 25th    (Christmas Day)   11:00 AM

A second 4PM Mass has been added on Christmas Eve to assure ample space to accommodate larger numbers of attendees.  Undoubtedly, we will be blest the by presence of visitors and people of other faith traditions at Christmas Mass. Please give everyone a warm welcome to our parish.

Be careful during this final week in the run-up to Christmas!

Msgr. Woy

P.S.:  With winter weather setting in, please be mindful of our inclement weather policy which is posted on the webpage under the “resources” tab.  Note that Masses in fulfillment of the Sunday obligation are only cancelled upon the authority of the Archbishop.
