Seton Weekly Update 10/21/22

Posted on October 21, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

This weekend begins our Fall Stewardship Campaign.  Joe Shepherd, chair of the finance committee will make a presentation at all Masses on the Annual Report which you will find in this week’s bulletin.  Next week, I will speak at Masses asking for your continued financial support of the parish.   Your generosity makes possible the many programs and ministries of the parish that makes SEAS such a wonderful community of faith.

The Little Sisters of the Poor asked me to extend their gratitude for your generous response to their recent appeal.  SETON parishioners contributed $5210 to the Sisters of their ministry to the elderly poor.  Also, thanks for your generous support of our sister parish in Haiti.  Because of your generosity we have been able to support 300 chairs for the parish’s day school.

We continue to be blest with new life as young families of our parish bring their children to be baptized.   This Sunday, Deacon Ray Moreau will baptize:  Alexander Michael Hartman, son of Erich and Erika Hartman; Samuel Scott duFief, Luke James duFief and Max Jacob duFief, sons of James and Laura duFief.  We wish the Hartman and duFief families every blessing in the Lord as their children begin their journeys of faith.

We have been experiencing difficulties with the portable mics worn by the priest and deacon.  Although they are not as old as I am, they are ancient by today’s standards.  We have purchased new mics which should help improve the quality and consistence of sound throughout the church and narthex.

November is that month of All Souls when we remember and pray for our beloved dead.  As is our custom, The Book of Remembrance will be in the church from the last weekend of October thru November.  Please add names of your deceased loved ones.  You may also place a framed photo of your loved ones in front of the altar during this time.  The annual Mass of Remembrance will be held on November 2nd (Wednesday) at 7:00 PM.  Keep looking through the bulletin for a list of more upcoming events you won’t want to miss.

This Sunday’s Poor Box will be for hurricane relief for regions of Florida so devastated by Hurricane Ian.

Have a good week!
