Seton Weekly Update 10/14/22

Posted on October 14, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

Last Sunday 47 children participated in CLOW (Children’s Liturgy of the Word)!  What a blessing young families are to our parish!  CLOW will expand to every Sunday in Advent but volunteers are needed to staff the effort.  We hope to get enough volunteers that each team only have to work once a month.   Contact Sarah Jarzembowski for more information.

Election Day (November 8th) is fast approaching.  This year’s mid-term election will determine both state-wide leadership, membership in the general assembly and control of both houses of congress.  Voting is both a privilege and a civic responsibility.   You can register to vote in the state of Maryland until Tuesday, October 18th.  The Maryland Catholic Conference website ( contains resources, including candidate surveys which you might find helpful as you prepare to vote.

Our annual parish Fall Stewardship Campaign will take place over the next 2 weekends.  Registered families will soon receive a letter from me thanking them for their financial support of the parish over the past year and asking their continued support in the year ahead.  In next week’s bulletin, you will find the annual financial report.  It is only through your generosity that the parish is able to provide the programs and ministries that make a difference in the life of others.

Interested in a life-changing experience?  Fr. Paul is leading a tour to the Holy Land in conjunction with the Franciscan Monastery in Washington.  The Pilgrimage will take place March 2-12 and includes a stop in Petra, Jordan.  Fr. Paul joined me when I lead the same tour from the Cathedral in 2019.   Fr. David Wathen, OFM will be the tour guide.  Fr. David led the 2019 tour and it was by far the best of my three trips to the Holy Land.   Fr. David was stationed in the Holy Land for a number of years.  The all-inclusive trip is $4073 (including air fare from Dulles).  Unfortunately, Israel is a very expensive country to visit.   Brochures with details may be found at the Hospitality Center in the narthex.

This Sunday’s Poor Box will be for hurricane relief for regions of Florida so devastated by Hurricane Ian.

Finally, in celebration of Veteran’s Day, I would like to invite veterans, active and retired military and Department of Defense parishioners and their spouses to a Mass of Blessing at 4:30 PM (Saturday, November 5th) followed by a cocktail party in the parish hall. RSVP by November 1st by emailing Sarah Jarzembowski (sarah.jarzembowski@sea...) or calling the parish office (410-721-5770).

Have a good week!

Msgr. Woy
