Seton Weekly Update 10/7/22

Posted on October 10, 2022 in: General News

Dear Friends,

It's DONUT SUNDAY!  Please join us for donuts and fellowship following the 9:30 Mass.  Speaking of the 9:30 Mass, we are pleased to offer CLOW (Children’s Liturgy of the Word) on a monthly basis.  In December we are hoping to move to every week.  However, we still need volunteers to make this happen.  Please contact Sarah Jarzembowski at Sarah.Jarzembowski@seaseton.org or 410-721-5770 ext 233 for more information.

We are blest this weekend to welcome four (4) families whose children will become one with us in the Sacrament of Baptism.  Congratulations to David & Mary Shahin whose daughter Miranda will be baptized at Saturday’s 4:30 Mass.  On Sunday afternoon Deacon Jack McCabe will baptize Kylie Gardner, daughter of Randy & Jamie Gardner; Grayson Cleckley, son of Ryan & Olivia Cleckley; and Sophie Leahy, daughter of Andrew & Lauren Leahy.  We wish these young families the blessings of good health and happiness as they bring new life to our world and the church community.

Please keep in your prayers the priests of the Archdiocese who will join Archbishop Lori in a three-day convocation.  Held every two years, the convocation provides priests with an opportunity to gather with their bishops for a time of spiritual and fraternal renewal.  I will be away from the parish from Monday afternoon thru noon time Thursday.

The month of November is fast approaching and with it our annual remembrance of our beloved dead.  Since cremation has become a more accepted practice, many families find themselves with urns of cremains that have not been interred or buried. The Archdiocese of Baltimore provides a final resting place for those who are cremated but not buried.  The Ministry of the 14th Station of the Cross buries the deceased in sacred ground allowing the deceased to rest in peace.  There is a minimal fee of $350 for the burial.  The burial takes place annually in November at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anne Arundel County.  For more info please contact the Fr. Patrick Carrion at the Office of Cemetery Management 410-547-5375 or pcarrion@archbalt.org.

Finally, please pray for the repose of the souls of two long-time parishioners who recently went home to God: Joan Thorseth and Catherine Surlis.  Catherine’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (8th) and Joan’s on Wednesday (12th).  May they know the eternal rest and peace of heaven and may their families come to peace with their passing.

Have a good week!

Msgr. Woy
