The Book of Genesis (Part One)
Virtual Scripture Study with Deacon Fred.
Beginning Wednesday, September 29th, 2021.
A study of the book of Genesis is an invitation not only to contemplate the creation story, but to remember with the Israelites their ancestors in faith. Part one of this study covers Genesis 1:1-25:18 (the "pre-history" of Israel including the creation accounts, the stories of the fall and the great flood, as well as the story of Abraham and Sarah). Commentary, study and reflection questions, pray and access to online lectures are included. There five lessons that will take place via Zoom.
Contact Deacon Fred at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up.
Each fall and winter, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish offers a program to study Sacred Scripture. It consists of daily personal reflection, weekly small-group sharing, a weekly lecture (video) and prayer. The method is designed to create a balance between learning about the Bible and applying the Bible to our daily lives. The constant challenge of the Christian life is to relate our own lives with what God had done in the lives of people throughout history.
This program appeals both to those who have never studied the Bible before and to those who have been reading the Bible for quite a while. Each participant receives both a study guide and a commentary for the Scripture studied in a particular year. These are available for purchase in the parish office. There is no other fee for the course.
