Children's Faith Formation

To enroll your child(ren) for Faith Formation K-8, please review the following options:

SEEK has ended for the year, we invite you to register for Root! For more information about Seek, please click here.

Root: Is fundamental catechesis on the basic beliefs and teachings of our faith using the Apostles Creed as a model and is recommended for families with children up to age 14. Why the Apostles Creed? Because it’s the oldest and most concise statement of our faith.  In the early Church, this was the profession of faith one made when converting to Christianity and seeking baptism.  Root is appropriate and accessible for families with children up to around 13 or 14 years old. ROOT is a hybrid experience of self-paced sessions at home with optional gathered sessions on-property, and consists of 6 series with each series being 3 weeks in length.  During the first week of each series, parents invest in themselves with the self- paced parent component.  During the second week, parents invest in their children by leading the self-paced family meeting.  During the third week, families have the option of investing in community by participating in the gathered sessions. Root will begin in mid-January and conclude in mid-May.  It’s a great second semester option for families who are choosing to do SEEK in the first semester, but it also works well as a stand- alone option for families whose children may be too old for SEEK. begins January 2022. To register please click here.

Additional Faith Formation Options:

The following faith formation options exist for families who do not have a child in a sacramental year. These three modules: Source & Summit, Witness, Mercy, comprise the ongoing formation suite of Pathways.  As they are entirely self-paced and at-home, families have the option of choosing one or more of these modules and pacing them to suit their individual needs.

Source & Summit includes 53 Gospel Encounters for this year’s Sunday Masses, plus Christmas. Each Weekly Family Gospel Encounter includes: a short reflection to provide context, reading of the Sunday Gospel, discussion questions, an activity, and a prayer. They are meant to help families prepare for the upcoming Sunday Mass. The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life" (Lumen Gentium 11). This is an at-home family faith experience.

A family experience about the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Over 15 family meetings, families will wrestle with and live out the command of Jesus: "love one another as I love you" (John 15:12).

A family experience about the Saints and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Over 8 family meetings, families will cook a recipe related to the life of a Saint and learn about a gift of the Holy Spirit lived out in their lives.

Seek is an on-ramp experience of initial faith formation.  It’s designed for younger children, around the ages of 6 through 10.  That age range is a guide, not a rule, as Seek is formatted like a Vacation Bible School with song, dance, crafts and skits.  Please chat with us before enrolling any significantly younger or older children in Seek so we can discern together if it is a good fit for them. Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, CLOW is suspended until further notice. If you or your child would like to watch our past CLOW videos to do CLOW at home, please click here to view our playlist!

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is offered for children in preschool through second grade or until the child receives First Eucharist. It is designed to offer the Sunday Gospel Readings on a level better understood by children, in a smaller setting, during the 9:30a.m. Mass on Sundays between Labor Day and Memorial Day. The children are dismissed from Mass and gather in a separate space to hear the scriptures proclaimed, sing a psalm, pray the Apostles Creed and offer intercessions in prayer, then return to Mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
