Directory of Ministries and Organizations

High School

Posted in: Youth

We are inviting YOU to be a part of High School Youth Ministry this upcoming year. This year our program will focus on being an active ministry. Each Sunday night will be centered either on the kerygma, service, prayer, or fun. It’s a time to be around people who share the same faith as you while also deepening your own. It’s a time to enjoy big group activities and service projects. To understand the importance of possibly coming to our High School Program let me read you an excerpt from the Directory of Catechesis.

“The encounter with Christ involves the person in his totality: heart, mind, senses. It does not only concern only the mind, but also the body and above all the heart. Catechesis is not alone in fostering an encounter with Christ. It is joined in this by the other dimensions of the life of faith: in liturgical-sacramental experience, in affective relationships, in community life and the service of one’s brothers” (DC 76).

We come to know Christ in other dimensions of life, in our liturgical-sacramental experience, or going to Church. In our relationships, the one’s you’ve made in the past or even the one’s you’ll make in the future here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. And at the service of others, in which we will have plenty of service activities to join in on. It’s also a time to dig deeper into the faith, what drives you, what questions you have, how can we actually live a catholic life?

If all of this sounds fun and intriguing we would love for you to join us this upcoming year.

Registration: Sign up for HSYM under the Events tab in Resources, it will be the same as Confirmation sign up. Once you submit the form, it will send you to Give Central, you can immediately close, there is no payment for HSYM.

What’s Next? Come to our first Sunday Night Gathering on September 4th. We will be blessing backpacks at the 5:30 pm mass for the new school year.

When: Every Sunday 6:45-8:30 pm. No meetings on Oct. 23, Nov. 6 & 27, and Dec. 25”

High School Youth Ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is open to any student in the 9th-12th grades.  Our focus is on helping each person come to a better understanding of his or her own faith; centering on what it means to have a relationship with God and the Church, as well as how to encourage and develop those relationships.  It is wholistic in approach: consisting of weekly Sunday Evening Gatherings, Retreats, Opportunities for Parish Involvement and Christian Service, activities with the whole Archdiocese of Baltimore, and just for fun events.

Christian Service

Opportunities to love God by serving others abound for teens through our Second Saturday Service Half-Days,  our annual Summer Mission Trip, and helping out at various parish-wide events throughout the year.  Once Confirmed, teens may also invest in helping form their peers' faith through our Peer Ministry Program.
