IMPORTANT - Lobby Night Issues
Please take action...call or e-mail now!
The Maryland Catholic Conference is asking you to take the time to share the Church's position on key issues.
Lobby Night was cancelled for February 15th but lawmakers still need to hear from you. The following issues were scheduled to be discussed:
Poverty - opposing cuts to programs that serve poor and vulnerable Marylanders
BOAST Tax Credit - support for tax credit (SB385/HB 946) that would help create scholarships for Catholic school students and grants for Catholic school teachers
Stem Cell Research - support for House Bill 371, which would help ensure that some state taxpayer dollars are used for ethical, effective adult stem cell research to treat sickle cell disease
Death Penalty - opposition to Senate Bill 404 which would weaken the strict evidence requirements the General Assembly passed last year for death penalty cases and increase the chance of convicting an innocent person.
Marriage - opposition to Senate Bill 582 and House Bill 808, which would redefine marriage in Maryland; and support for Sentate Bill 852, which would ensure that out-of-state courts and legislators are not allowed to redefine marriage in Maryland
Visit the Maryland Catholic Conference website to learn more about the issues and to send an e-mail to lawmakers or find out how to call your lawmakers.
Your calls and e-mails are critical. Thank you for your support!

We have received a report from Father Alexis telling us that the schools are reopening and that he is taking refugee children into the primary and pre-school. In order to do that, we are helping him purchase materials to make more desks, benches and blackboards and to purchase school supplies. Father Alexis is making good progress on the benches and desks and has sent this photo showing the first desks on their way to the school.Page 1 of 2
