Lecture Series

Each year---three parishes---Church of the Holy Apostles in Gambrills, St. Joseph Church in Odenton and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Crofton----come together to present a series of lectures and discussions on various topics. Our parishes are closer than you may realize----distance in miles between Holy Apostles and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton---4.47 miles----and between St. Joseph and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton—7.64 miles!! 

 

 

Lecture Series #1

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish will host the first lecture this coming October (date to be determined) in the Fr. Connelly Parish Center from 7:00-8:30PM.  The topic is "Faiths of Our Father Abraham" (Jewish-Christian-Islamic) presented by Fr. Russell Murray, OFM, PhD.  Father Russell is a member of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) and teaches at Washington Theological Union where he is Assistant Professor for the Department of Moral and Systemic Theology.  His particular interests lie in the intersection of ecclesiology and ecumenism.

Lecture Series #2

Our second lecture will be held at the Church of the Holy Apostles (school library) on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 6:30-7:45PM.  Sister Mary Beth Hamm, SSJ will enlighten and challenge us on the topic - "Welcoming the Stranger - Immigration in the U.S."  Sister is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, PA and is the Social Justice Coordinator for her Community.
