Welcome to the Justice & Peace Committee Webpage

Our Mission

Grounded in the Gospel of the non-violent Jesus, aware that acting for social justice is a constitutive dimension of our Catholic faith ("Justice in the World", 1971 Synod of Bishops), grounded in the gospel of Jesus, and using Catholic Justice & Peace teachings as our basic principles, the Justice & Peace Committee of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish strives to:

be faithful witnesses to God's justice, compassion, inclusiveness and call for peace;

educate ourselves and the people of our parish in social awareness and the need for fostering non-violence locally and globally;

motivate the Seton parish community to act for economic and social transformation that ensures a just and peaceful society enabling the dignity of all, especially the poor and the vulnerable.

Goals

Provide a visible presence to the parish community by our concerns for the dignity of all human beings

Raise the consciousness of the parish by identifying issues of institutional injustice in our local community and throughout the world

Encourage parish groups (e.g. liturgy providers, office staff, adult education, youth) to introduce social justice and peace themes and concerns into parish worship, social and educational programs

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

—Margaret Mead
